With Sony suffering bad financial losses recently, the lack of a decent lineup for the Vita, which has been outsold by the PSP in the last quarter--in which it finally surpassed 2.2 million units sold--and NO plans, from Sony, for a price drop anytime soon--
What does Sony's future hold? Is there a bright light in the distance than can be Sony's "saving grace"?
I'm not seeing much--as I've been following the recent news on Sony--once a great company, but is looking more and more like what most, former, gaming companies looked like.
Add to the discussion the latest firmware update for the Vita, 1.80, which gave owners some hope--as PSOne classics are on their way soon for DL--and the ability to play PSP games on Vita using the touchscreen--BUT added to the update is the news that NOW your Vita Memory Cards are LOCKED to your handheld, which comes as a BIG blow to what would have been a good, potentially winning formula for the update.
Plus recent news that Sony may be offering FREE copies of their upcoming Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, for Vita, to those who own a Vita and are buying a copy of PSASBR for their PS3--and the game which might be one of Sony's LAST hopes for the forseeable future--but has already shown signs of suffering as preorders have only hit about 16,000 with 3 months before it's release--things don't look so good for a company, that up until last year was still as big as ever.
They've had their worst year financially, with millions of dollars lost, and nothing upcoming that could possibly "Stop the bleeding"--Sony needs help, and needs help fast.
I'm not trying to seemed biased, and as one who has enjoyed PSX and PS2--I do still enjoy some of what Sony HAS made--but if they can't do something BIG that will help the recover from ALL that's gone down, ever since the Hacking of the PSN last year--they may go the way of Sega, Midway, or Acclaim--the latter two have both gone under BTW.
